American Food???

There are many McDonald's, KFC's, and A & W's around the island, but when you actually go in to order, the menu is NOTHING like in the states!  Also, they don't have dipping sauces...SO disappointing!!!

 We found Colonel Sanders!!!
Crazy Menu!

Pineapple Park = Heaven for Amy

Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE pineapple!  So, touring Pineapple Park was the highlight of my day!  All the free samples after were worth the heat and humidity--I think Chas ate the equivalent of two full pineapples by the time he was done "sampling."  So tasty!!!! :-)

Mom, aren't these beautiful?  They are so pretty we thought they were fake!

How ironic.....

Touring the Coast

So we took a drive and toured a "small" portion of this amazing island the last couple of days.  I have SO MANY amazing pics to post, so choosing just a few was really hard!  I'll do my best...enjoy!  Love and miss you all so much already! (but as you'll see, this makes it somewhat bearable)

Taking the shuttle to ride on a glass-bottom boat.  So cute!

These pics were all taken at an underwater observatory and on a boat with a glass bottom.  So beautiful!

WE HAVE FINALLY ARRIVED!!!

So, the ladies are finally on the island with Chas!  We arrived this week and immediately went sight-seeing after getting through orientation at the base.  I have to say, the first thing I noticed was the extreme humidity....it was like a threshold of water in the air the moment we stepped off the plane.  It's crazy!  I hope we get used to it soon.  The heat I can handle, but the humidity is just crazy and they say it only gets worse throughout the summer!?!?!  This first pic is of how they drive BACKWARDS here!  It's so frustrating!

Okinawa World

Chas recently (in his extreme boredom and loneliness without us) went to see a place called "Okinawa World."  His camera ran out of batteries (wouldn't have happened if I was there...teehee), but the few pics he did get were AMAZING!  I'll post them here, but you can also check his facebook page to see others!  Enjoy--we can't wait to do it with him! :-)

Intro Post

So, I'm finally getting around to starting another blog--but this one is for our family and friends to keep in touch with us while we are on our big adventure in the Pacific!!  Charles moved to Japan around the first of February for his work.  We chose to stay behind :-( to finish the school year.  This way, Shantae will finish her senior year at Mountain Crest High, Alyssa can finish another semester at Utah State University, and I can finish the school year teaching hyper-active teenagers at Cedar Ridge Middle School!  We are sad and lonely without him here to take care of us, but we are keeping WAY busy trying to get ready to move and join him in June.  We are flying out on June 8th, which just can't come soon enough!  In the meantime, I'll keep you posted as to how Chas is doing without us (lonely) and how we are doing without him (empty) until we can be together again in June!  Then I'll try to post weekly and let you know what craziness we are experiencing along with the joys and tears.  Thanks for keeping in touch with us!
